Nesskip hf. was established as a shipping company in 1974 led by Captain Gudmundur Ásgeirsson who has been the managing director since the company began operation. The company's bulkerfleet is linked to a large international maritime group of 80 Mini-Bulk Carriers, ranging from 2.000 - 7.500 metric tons Dead-Weight. This co-operation gives Nesskip access to a large fleet modern mini bulk carriers. It also ownes two tankers, Freyja and Frigg which was bought by the company in August 2001. She was on charter for her former owner in coastal trade in Iceland till August 2002 under the name Kyndill. A mini bulk carrier under the name Isnes is also in the company
