Established in 1995 by two major oil company's in Iceland, Olíufélagið hf. and Olíuverslun Íslands hf. The company ownes small bunkering vessels wich serves vessels calling Port of Reykjavík and is having a newbuild to be deliverd in 2002 from Jiangnan, Shanghai, China. She will replace Kyndill which is on charter to Olíudreifing. The former vessel of the company, Stapafell, was sold to Panama in June 2001 and renamed Salango. Keilir was transferred to Faroe Isl. flag in 2003. She is still owned by Olíudreyfing and partly manned by Icelandic crew.

She was launched 31st January 2002 and the naming cerimony was on the September 23 2002. Photo belowe is from the launching ceremony. Right after her delivery to owners she was lengthened by 18 meters in Shanghai. She arrived to Iceland 10th of April 2003.
Keilir came to her homeport Reykjavik on 15th of April and the following day she was open for visitors. She is specialised to be in coastal service in Iceland as well as international trade. She has capasitet for 20 TEU's as clearly can been seen on her deck.
